I took off from GTU this morning after picking up my Bonanza from the avionics shop. Even though some work had been done on my avionics, that could have adverserly affected my flight, I filed IFR to Fredericksburg, TX (T82). They were reporting 800 Overcast. It was clear and very VFR for 90% of the trip. I was confident that I could handle the MX Flight checked on my depature and if any issues with the avionics work turned up, I could cancel IFR and return to GTU VFR.
Arriving at T82, there were 3 aircraft ahead of me on the approach. For the first time, I ended up entering the holding pattern for real and did 3 full laps around. There was a Citation Jet holding 1,000 above me. I tried to get a good picture of that. I got cleared for the approach, and I was able to cancel in the air once I got below the clouds. The clouds bases were quite a bit higher than the originally reported 800 overcast.
