Flight with Derek to KNEW
Derek Zinser Just earned his Private Pilot's License and he wanted to go a good Cross Country flight. So we loaded up and flew to New Orleans Lake Front together. Many will tell you that earning your Private Pilot's License is only a "License to start learning!" In fact, I think his examiner even told him the same thing. Derek worked hard during his training and already is a very good pilot. He has great attention to detail and the willingness to keep learning. Those traits will take him far.
During this flight, I had the oppertunity to show him things he had never been exposed to during training.
- Class Bravo Airspace
- Flying to new busy airports
- Real Fuel Management (None of this, 1.5 hour cross country with 5 hours of fuel on board)
- Calculating fuel burn and endurance during flight and comparing it to our flight plan
- Dealing with an FBO, Taxi's, etc.
